GETTING READY FOR YOUR SESSION:
What to wear? This is one of the most commonly asked questions I get asked before a session. So, here are my clothing recommendations (these are ONLY recommendations because realistically we all have different tastes in clothing). First off, I suggest keeping it neutral. No flashy or bright clothing. Earth tones are my favourite (cream, sunflower yellow, sage green, grey). I never suggest you all show up in blue jeans and white t-shirts. TOO matchy matchy is actually very distracting in a photo. However, complimenting each others colours works much better. For example, if Dad is going to wear a plaid shirt that has a line of yellow in it, little girl wearing yellow tights would be a perfect compliment. Also, using textures and different fabrics to break up each other when you’re nice and cuddly in the photos also works really well. Chunky knit sweaters, floral dresses, tulle, denim - ALL PERSONAL FAVES!!! I do not suggest logos, or shirts with writing - again, too distracting. Basically, less is more. Keep it simple with a few elements that will pop. Shoes? Shoes are a tricky one. And quite honestly, if you’re stressing the shoes, I would just take them off! Au Naturel bare foot is going to look way better on your little ones than dirty old running shoes - I promise. But if you’re not feeling the bare foot just stick with something super simple (unless your little ones have HUNTER rainboots - I’m a sucker for littles in HUNTERS). I hope this helps :-)
Also, you are always welcome to bring any of your own blankets, props, stuffed animals or whatever it may be that will help keep your little one happy and engaged. Oh, and don’t leave home without a full belly. A full belly = happy heart.
